  • Spring Sprint Race Results

    Spring Sprint Race Results

I did a little duathlon for kicks on Cinco De Mayo. I know I know everyone else was out drinking an excessive amount of margaritas and I was just trying to run and bike around in circles real fast. Honestly I didn't put much thought into this race. I signed up a week before and didn't really taper for it. (I mean it was just a sprint distance duathlon... how bad could it be?) Started out pretty strong.... too strong.... haha. I'm not a particularly fast...

    Alyssa Duhe POST 119

Workout:Brick: 15 mile bike + 20 minute runCounting down to ITU San Diego. 25 days away. Had to do the first brick since ummm last August. Went surprisingly well sans jello legs. Made me all the more confident for my first race. I am hoping to set a personal PR for the sprint distance. I asked all my Instagram friends about this one. I am testing out different sources of fuel.  So far I am digging GU Roctane but I am open to suggestions. Let me know what you all...

    Escaping from the office

Today was the beloved rest day. So these photos are obviously from last weekend.  When the sun was out and I wasn't trapped behind a desk. I am slowly healing from my hamstring strain so that good. Now just battling endless aches and sore spots. I can deal with that though. Got a nice run in by the beach. I love the weekends because I can end my runs on the beach. Running by the water makes for an excellent cool down.  My aunt and mom just got me this...

Just one more piece of chocolate...

My diet to get to race weight starts tomorrow. It won't last knowing me but I'll work on it. I figured if I wrote in in a blog post it might actually happen. Like I owe it to the internet to be true to this "race weight diet" uhhh yeah right. Not true. I am training to kick your ass. Sorry to disappoint.

Things not to do with an iPhone.

Things you probably shouldn't do with a cheap iphone cover:This. One little thing and wabam I drop my phone and it shatters. Whatever Vince and I are cool and ride our bikes like rebels. Don't ask about my life on the edge. It's too crazy (as I wear a helmet). We saw a guy catch a sting ray and then be a badass and release it back into the ocean without getting stung. Freaken' champ. I would have gotten stung for sure. That's the nice thing about biking by the...

  • oh San Clemente

    oh San Clemente

I live in a pretty darn good looking part of the world. I mean seriously. When I was younger (I know I am still young) I didn't fully appreciate how gosh darn lucky I was. Almost all kids are like that right? I hope so for my own sake. It wasn't really until college that it started to click. God damn it I am one lucky human being! I am happy to call San Clemente my home. I mean with views like the one below during my weekend bike ride how could I not? I look forward...

  • Race: 5 miler

    Race: 5 miler

My old soccer coach is apparently now really into running. Probably because he has so much more energy built up from not having to chase 12 year olds around at soccer practice. I started hiking occasionally with his daughter and they invited me to join them on some of the local races they run. I love to run so I figured why not. This was race one of the three race series called the OC Chili Winter Trail Run Series. It was supposed to be a 5 mile trail run through the...

  • A New Coach

    A New Coach

So last year I pretty much was winging all my running, biking and swimming. Just doing them when I felt like it. So if it was super cold out I opted out of the early morning bike rides. My runs were runs at the same pace about as long as I felt like running for. Swims were non-stop without any drills or sets. It surprisingly worked out and I did decent at my races. I thank my weight training coach for that. But now things are a changin'   I've made the leap...

  • Sore muscle swagger

    Sore muscle swagger

I've been trying to run on the trails a little more. I don't know why I've been running on the road so much. Screw that. I am hitting the trails more! I found a bunch of trails that are close to my house. They are no joke either. Straight up hills. As you can tell it's been a little muddy recently. I'll have one more long trail run this weekend before my 5 mile trail race next weekend.    This is my fear. Actually I run fairly confidently (and naively)...

    FinalFit and a new Felt

Finally the day came. I got my new triathlon bike. Prior to this oh so glorious day I was riding a Univega from when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Now don't get me wrong I love that clunky, awkwardly unshiftable and strange noise making bike to pieces. But after the 2012 season I decided I was going to be taking triathlon a bit more seriously... quite a bit.  First things first. Find the perfect bike fitter. After reading some excellent reviews online from...
