This image has historical significance for many reasons....it was taken at the first man-on-man surfing contest, the Stubbies in 1977 the last event MP won before his demise. What is really interesting about this image is the outline of the surfboard. MP was known for his futuristic shapes and his surfboards are some of the most collectible on the planet. LOOK AT THE OUTLINE ON THIS BOARD, very unique for 1977.
