Open Source Permaculture

Sophia Novack from the Czech Republic is spearheading a new open source website aimed at spreading information about Permaculture.

Permaculture is a design system akin to a toolbox that holds different tools like no-till organic gardening, water cachement, composting/soil creation, animal symbiosis, and solar and wind energy cultivation to create sustainable human systems in nearly any climate, nation or class. It's a real deal solution to many of the world's social, economic and environmental ills that employs our creativity, intellect, resourcefulness and strength. My friends know I'm not so much a fan of donating money to some cause like to saving some cute animal species, kids in Africa or even the Oceans.. I believe it's about saving ourselves first, if we learn how to use the resources in our backyards  and the water that falls on our roofs to feed ourselves, and if we learn to appreciate these simple gifts without needing to spend our resources reaching for those fleeting feelings- all of the current problems will repair themselves over time.

The knowledge of how to do this is in Permaculture Design and the folks at Open Source Permaculture are trying to establish a free resource where you can educate yourself about this design science.

*Whenever I mention Permaculture, I must include Loren and Aubrey's "Surfers Without Borders" project, they've been big proponents of permaculture for a long time now and Loren recently got certified to be a Permaculture instructor. http://www.surferswithoutborders.org
