  • The Desert

    The Desert

I've just got back from a few weeks in the NW desert of Australia, where all the waves are.

I made an effort (while having to shoot digital), to bust out as many polaroids as possible. Here are two that I think sum the place up, pumping waves in vast nothingness.

  • Bells on Polaroid

    Bells on Polaroid

Bells was smoking last weekend, it's been an outstanding April to be around the Southern Ocean.

I stood here for ages waiting for the right set to shoot a polaroid, it worked well as this set hit both Rincon and The Bowl.

    Nothing like a good polaroid.

  • Paper Sea

    Paper Sea

Paper Sea Quarterly is a handcrafted quarterly coffee-table book on surf, travel and art for women and men who share an affinity for the ocean.

What started as a simple recognition of the need for change turned into a one inch thick publication containing collaborations with photographers, artists and writers including Alex Laurel, Chris Burkard, Matt O'Brien and DJ Struntz.

Unable to find an alternative to mainstream surf publications, Andy Summons...

  • Easter @ Bells

    Easter @ Bells

What you don’t realise standing on the beach at Bells is the effect of the cliffs on the atmosphere in the water. The headland and cliffs to Winkipop enhance the roar of the crowd and when something eventful takes place it’s almost deafening in the water, it’s something you never realise on the beach. It really is a natural amphitheatre.

The other notable feature besides the waves this Easter was the weather, flawless for the whole week.

    This year I...

  • Swell!

    Swell!

The first really solid groundswell of the year has stirred the Southern Ocean. It feels good.

  • RAW

    RAW

Quality light lends itself to post production or in the case of this image, a complete lack of.

  • FOUND: Isolated Perfection

    FOUND: Isolated Perfection

    No waves this week. None.

This situation has led to some serious 21st century exploration and I've come up trumps. These two, within 1000kms of each other, could (according to my research) be easily put in the "rarely if ever surfed" category. Thus, I make it my aim to venture there someday. The waves are certainly possible to reach however I would put both missions in the "frontier" category. If you'd like to sponsor my trip, feel free to make a donation...
