A Day with Droid.

So on my recent Japan trip a magazine editor asked of anyone who could write a story about Andrew Doheny, and if I had any pictures of him surfing or portraits. After hearing him out i realized i might be the most qualified person for this particular assignment. Being overly ambitious I dug up old photos of Droid and then realized I see him everyday, why not take some new digital pictures of him? It’ll be fun! The day started at the shaping shack, then went into the surf, we hung at Fords for a bit, even asked him some questions for the article Im gonna write, I like to call my approach as… “reel journalism”.

Shot some surfing from the Jetty at 52nd street, it was really fun and was sick to be back on that jetty shooting with Droid. I then took some portraits of him after, wanted a real intimate feel for the magazine article, some fresh new stuff really up close, the Japanese love that shit!

So a typical day for Andrew consist of shaping, hanging, surfing. Finished the day at the local watering hole, ‘THE ALLEy’ and had some pub burgers and Mac N Cheese. It was a fun day with Droid.
