Co-founder of the infamous bi-monthly publication, The Surfer’s Journal, Steve honed his water skills during the sixties as lifeguard, sailor, and surfboard builder in Orange County, CA. In 1967, Steve began freelance writing for surf magazines, before becoming associate editor at Petersen’s International Surfing magazine in 1969. He then moved to Surfer magazine and in 1970 became Publisher, a position he held for over two decades. His closeness to surfing culture and the inner workings of the surf industry have given him perspectives shared by few and wisdom that definitely worth listening to.
