This summer part of the Korduroy team will be meeting up with the dudes at Surf for Life in El Salvador. Their mission is to build a new high school in the remote fishing village of El Cuco. Author Jaimal Yogis and Surf for Life founder Alex Fang have organized a trip to El Cuco with some of their fellow ocean enthusiasts, including Danny Hess, Cyrus Sutton, Jay Nelson and Holly Beck, who are working together with El Cuco community members to build the new school. With the construction of the first ever high school in El Cuco, future generations of El Salvadorean children from El Cuco will be able to continue their educations beyond eighth grade. The cost of construction is $25,000, and the team is hoping to cover the expense with their fundraising efforts. Any size donation is greatly appreciated.
Surf for Life will also be hosting an event in San Francisco to further their fundraising efforts on August 25th at Park Chalet. We will keep you updated with more information as we learn about it.
If you’d like to get involved in helping out their project come to fruition, please visit http://www.surfforlife.org/teams/saltwaterbuddhas.html to make a donation or if you are in the San Francisco/Bay Area, stay tuned for more info on the upcoming fundraising event.
