There’s a cheesy romance movie from the late 90s where a well-intentioned girl friend tells her love-struck bestie to “never trust a guy with two first names.” I’m not exactly suggesting that Jake Zack can’t be trusted, but his photographs do have a mystical quality about them, one that suggests there’s something deeper going on beneath the surface. Just in this gallery alone, there’s one where steam billows up from a sunset-soaked sea and another where a road winds into nothingness on the horizon. Each image contains a story so it becomes a matter of who’s interpretation you’re going to believe at any given time. Appropriately, he’s chosen the Talking Heads’ Road to Nowhere to accompany this meandering montage.
