To say this movie looks epic is an understatement. Andrew Kidman’s latest “Spirit of Akasha” is said to celebrate the 40-year legacy of Albert Fazon’s “Morning of the Earth” with some of the most interesting people in surfing.
Just look at the names in this trailer:
As if that’s not enough, Kidman and his team got original songs composed for the film from such musicians as Ben Howard, Group Love, Andrew VanWyngarden (MGMT), Brian Wilson, The Dirty Three, Autumn Defence (Wilco), Chris Robinson (Black Crowes), and many more.
So there’s a lot to look forward to here, without even mentioning Kidman’s incredible movie-making abilities. Cy talked to Kidman back in January when he released the precursor book to the film. He got some details about where the film idea came from, what it was like to work with Fazon and all the creative hats Kidman wears. Check that interview here. If you are in or around Spain, you can catch the film when it premieres in association with the San Sebastian Film Festival on Sept. 21. For the rest of us, we’ll have to wait until it comes out in January. Once we have details on where it will be available, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, here are a couple behind-the-scenes shots from the making of the movie.
