1) Describe your background, where did you grow up and what culture(s) shaped you?
In reality I grew up in Los Angeles and then moved to Santa Barbara when I was around 10 years old. I feel as though in what I would call my “fantasy” childhood I grew up with farm animals and lived in remote parts of the world! That being said I always had this longing to travel and lay in the tall grass with the grazing sheep at my feet. Growing up, my family really valued our time to travel together and explore new places around the globe, whether it was in the bush all throughout Africa, or in search for waves along the penninsula of Costa Rica.

2) What values did you learn from your family and friends? What did you discover on your own?
My friends and family have been a big influence for me! They are on the same journey as me, collaborating, and following the deeper meanings in life. Friends have always been my subjects in all my photos because they are in my everyday life and are real! I learn by collaborating with them and creating together.
Growing up, as I started to travel, I gained the importance of independence. That was huge for me and really launched me into thinking about what I was really passionate about. It was all about shedding the layers of old habits and welcoming the sparks of new inspiration.

3) Describe the first time photography hooked you. Where was it? Describe the feeling.
Photography has been running through my veins from when I was a little girl. All around me their were so many influences. I would think that when I blinked I was taking pictures and that when I get old and passed away you could see all the photos I have taken with my blinks. Silly I know but I had such a vivid imagination.
When I got into high school, I really started to feel this drive and passion for taking pictures. I was taking a class about blogging and building websites, and from their we had to choose something we would do everyday on the blog. I chose to put together little photo stories that I would take everyday, this not only made me click the button more but made my brain run wild with ideas! Whether it was photographing my friend Morgan at her farm running in the tall grass with her goats, or holding my breath underwater to capture this surreal story of two friends under the waters edge, I was so motivated to tell stories through my photos. This intensive month made me realize taking pictures was my passion.

4) What things inspire you to pick up your camera and compose a shot?
I think for me when I take pictures it is like story telling. little everyday moments like going out to collect the chicken eggs, water the garden, or a picnic in the wild flowers, is what captures my eye. These moments are timeless and harder to reenact. I love the golden light, disheveled salty sea hair, and anything having to do with nature!

5) What inspires you in life?
I love this question!! Growing up I was always asked the question..”what are you going to be?” “Where are you going to school?” To hear the question..”what inspires me?, what am I passionate about?” is what life should be about. So many things inspire me on a day to day basis! I am inspired by the nature all around me, love that is shared between two human beings,  travel and the different cultures I see. Being inspired and passionate about something is the best feeling in the world!

6) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years I want to be living in nature. Having already built my little home in the mountains or a jungle somewhere surrounded by artists and passionate people. I want to have farm animals and a garden that I can tend to everyday! A running stream, waterhole, or hot springs near by! Yes, photography will always be there, and I will be capturing moments from my journey. Id like to still be traveling but know that I have a place to call home.
