SeaWorld Agrees To End Captive Breeding Of Killer Whales

Today marked at pivotal day for marine mammals, and on ongoing effort to stop captive killer whale breeding programs at SeaWorld parks nationwide. Following the release of the documentary, Blackfish, which documents the death of a SeaWorld trainer by a troublesome, and unpredictable killer whale, a public uproar ensued, one that not only directed media and public attention towards SeaWorld’s poor and inhumane treatment of killer whales but also revealed a troubled and shortsighted training and breeding program that put trainers at risk and celebrated cruel treatment to a highly intelligent animal that should not be subjected to capture, performing, and life trapped within a tank.
