Why Did The California Coastal Commission Just Fire Their Director???

The main authority that stands between development and our California coastline is the California Coastal Commission, an entity tasked with the duty to protect, manage and oversee all interests that coincide with our shores and coastal lands. In a world free of corruption, special interest groups, and spineless leaders, the California Coastal Commission would function as a morally and ethically grounded body in charge of protecting the coast with the public and natural environment in mind. Unfortunately, corruption, powerful special interest groups and spineless leaders do exist, which is why Dr. Charles Lester, a long time and celebrated head of the commission was fired by the Board of Directors. An outcry of support for Dr. Lester and criticism of the Board’s decision has ensued.
